Hazy Days
August 16, 2006 by jernehhong
Air Pollution Index (API) of Kuching reached a new level of 120 as reported by local newspapers yesterday . Nevertheless, a colleague of mine who experienced the 1997 haze complained that today’s API should be around 180 which is compatible to the 1997’s. "Back then the government distribute masks and announced an emergency "Public Holiday" on the 31 of Aguste but nothing has been done so far this year," she said. (According to "The Star" online news today, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam said the government has requested an aircraft from TUDM to do cloud seedings.)
Too bad, I was away from home then, so this year I got to experience and witness this "rare" haze scenario. In fact, the haze reminded me of the days in London the only different is that their haze is cold and fresh but ours is hot and stink!

Well, call me a weirdo but I can’t held to think that if this haze scene will become another tourism attraction in the tourism calender, after all, who has the mighty power, time and money to make the entire Borneo covered in haze?
