Birder Magazine Cover Page Photo
November 15, 2006 by jernehhong
I received this email this morning and thought why not sharing it with everyone. Well, this email comes from a friend of mine who’s a feverish bird watcher. Following is part of the email’s content:
(Left pix:Yellow-vented Bulbul is one of the most common birds found in Kuching’s garden.)
Birder’s World magazine, one of the better bird magazines here in the
USA is in the process of selecting a cover photo for their February
2007 issue. A photo by Laurence Poh (a Red-bearded Bee-eater) stands a
50-50 chance of being selected as the cover photo. Currently the
editors are trying to decide between that photo by Laurence, or
another one. The good news is that with your help, Laurence’s photo
can be the cover shot. All you need to do is vote for it (free).
Simply click on the link below, (or copy into your browser), and you
will be taken to the Birder’s World web site where you can vote (by
clicking on the cover photo of the Red-bearded Bee-eater).
The Feb. 2007 issue has a long article about digiscoping, with a
section on digiscoping in Malaysia (1999-2003) and the contributions
to this type of photography made by Laurence, Ooi Beng Yean, Cheang
Kum Seng, Dr. Chan Kai Soon, Chiu Sein Chiong and the many others who
have made such wonderful bird (and nature) photos through the years.
It would be great if the photo of the Red-bearded Bee-eater by
Laurence Poh made the cover of the magazine. All it takes is a minute
of your time, and a vote (free). Thanks!
