The LINKS

Last Wednesday morning I received a SMS from a friend, inviting me to the official launching of LINKS. "What links? Is it for news or feature?" I asked and she told me that both news and feature are needed but she didn’t explain anything about what LINKS is only tell me the location and date — 2nd floor Civic Centre view tower.
Sorry that I am out-dated with the clubbing spots in Kuching but hey~~ who knows what "links" or not if you don’t specify it and some more I HATE night assignment!!! But since I had turned out many invitations from her so I felt bad to turn her down again.
That night I had to cut my visit to "Ohoh & Jessica" short due to this "assignment". Guess what? I had an argument with the security guards the moment I stepped off from my vehicle.
"You’ve to pay RM5," said a young man. "What!?" I didn’t even know that the place had to pay parking fee now — yeah ~ yeah~ that’s the price to pay for not going clubbing around in town.
It was not a matter of paying a RM5 parking fee but I felt like being slapped on the face for coming all the way to do an assignment and yet I have to pay them!!! What the heck!!??? So I asked if I can talk to their Public Relation Officer. In the end, I didn’t get to see one but their person-in-charge of the car park, who still insisted that I pay.
As much as I understood his vulnerable position that he’s only "makan gaji" (get salary) from his boss, but hey! who would try to understand my position? I threaten to leave and not doing any write up if they insisted that I PAY for my ASSIGNMENT! Luckily, the dispute was dissolved the moment his boss showed up.
In the end, I learned that the boss invited his friends to invite the press to come for fun and do some write-ups. As much as the night didn’t have a smooth start, but I had to admit that the place’s changed into a nice setting, and it offers great views.
Don’t ask me what’s the pricing, I didn’t take notice of that but I was busy taking photographs of beautiful scenes and people — too bad I didn’t bring my tripod and the pix shakes badly.
Morris, one of the boss, said a restaurant and cafe is on its way to join the LINKS. "Not so soon, maybe before or after the Chinese New Year."
There are 2 VIP Karaoke rooms — it’s spacious and nice sliding floor glasses as walls, and you bet high-tech Karaoke player, nice city night views. The LINKS starts operating after 5pm or 6pm until don’t know what time after midnight.
After the assignment, on my way to my car, i spoke to that guard again and told him that I’d already explained to his boss, fair enough I don’t want to get scold by his boss either. But I surely know where to park my car if I don’t want to get charged for my next visit to its fashion show.
